Pet Safety Is Important - Lists For Their Safety

The list could be endless, but there is a shorter list of things that you should never give to your dog or cat. Some are obvious and others are not so obvious.

So what do you know about what animals can have or not have? These are just some of the things to keep away from your animals:

  • Chocolate, all forms of chocolate can or could be fatal to your animals. I am not sure why, but this advice was given by a vet, so I trust that advice.
  • Grapes.

Wow, who would think that grapes could be harmful. Yet, grapes can be fatal to cats, and kittens. (Ask your vet about dogs, and meanwhile don't give grapes to your dogs either until you find out for sure.

  • Cords, strings, metal chains and some leashes.

Never chain a dog outside and never chain a cat or kitten outdoors either. (Cats and kittens should never be chained or leased anywhere when you are not present.

  • Electric cords. If you have a new puppy , new dog or any dog or cat, bring all of your electrical cords, and extension cords out of their reach. They will and do chew on these things. Even bunnies will chew wires.

I was sitting at the desk one day (while babysitting) and the bunny walked by me very innocently. I watched him then looked up at the desk. A few minutes later I realized that when he was looking innocent, a few minutes later, this cute bunny chewed right through the phone wire.

So, animals chew, lift your wires off the floor and away from animals of all kinds.

  • Plastic bags, soft plastic. Keep these away from animals that chew on these. These plastics can get lodged in their bodies and eventually they will have to visit the vet for an operation.

Isn't prevention better ? So keep the plastics away from animals.

That is just a beginning list. Hope that helps you keep your animals safe, sound and healthy.
