Here is a personal Bible Study of mine
WIS: What it Says. . . put into my own words, somewhat.
WIT: What I Think. . . What this passage made me think about
TBV: The Best Verse. . . I think you got this one :)
WIS: Do not worry about the details of your life, what you eat or drink, what you wear, or your body? Life is more important than food and the body is more important than clothes. Look at the birds; they do not store food in barns and yet your Heavenly Father still feeds them. Are you not more valuable than them? Worrying will not add one single hour to your life.
Why worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow, they do not labor or spin. And yet, even Solomon in his entire splendor was not dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grasses of the field, will He clothe you with much more? So, don't worry about what to eat, drink or wear, because your Heavenly Father knows you need them. Instead, seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
WIT: Don't worry, be happy. Have you ever ruined your day because something was on your mind? Just the other day this happened to my sister-in-law. She had someone trying to steal money from her credit card. This had her frustrated and worried for almost 24 hours until it got settled. Things happen to us all the time that divert our attention to other things. Our boss has it out for us; our spouse is upset about something; there is not enough money to pay bills, etc.
What can we do? For starters, worrying and getting upset will not change a single thing. In fact, it only makes it worse. I call this the “it hurts to cry" theory. Have you ever noticed that when you cry your throat hurts, your eyes get puffy, and numerous other things? You are actually causing more pain by crying. The same goes for worrying, you are creating more problems when you allow your mind to get distracted. Your job will suffer, your relationships will suffer, and on and on and on.
I am a maturing Christian and I hear many people say place your faith in God and your problems will go away. I have troubles with this. I know with every ounce of my being that God is larger than any problem I can have and that no matter what I do, His will is going to be done. That I know. My heart, still has fear though. What I do is turn it all over to God. I ask Him to give me the strength to get through this tough time. Then I confide in my wife or friend. By sharing our problems they are now in the open and having someone else to talk to makes them feel much smaller. Now, I am more at ease and I am confident that God's will, will be done.
TBV: 6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
