Repentance is turning away from sin. It is to stop doing what you have done before because you acknowledge it is wrong and you commit to cease the activity. We suggest that you repent and turn specifically from the following two sins:
1. Sex outside of marriage. “You shalt not commit adultery" is one of the Ten Commandments. Beside from the spiritual significance, it is also there for our protection. Abstinence prevents not only pregnancy, it also prevents every *** transmitted disease. Stopping sex outside of marriage also stops all homosexual activity as marriage is defined as the joining of a man and woman; that is, according to both Jesus and Moses. Homosexual feelings are an entirely different situation than homosexual actions. There are no prohibitions against feelings only against actions. You are in control of your body and in control of your actions.
2. Abortion for convenience. Deal with the “hard cases" of rape, incest, and the life of the mother as a special case as they constitute less than five percent of all abortions. “You shall not commit murder" is another of the Ten Commandments. Killing an unborn child because it will interfere with one's lifestyle or because it is not the desired sex, is the worse form of murder there is. If you had one, seek forgiveness. If you are contemplating one, seek alternatives. In any case, do what you can to stop this practice altogether.
You have been told that what consenting adults do behind closed doors is their own business. That is a lie from the pit of hell. There is a God and He is there. God loves you and wants what is best for you. These two sins are devastating for you in this present life and in the life to come. Seek God. He has said “Draw close to me and I will draw close to you. "
There are Ten Commandments that deal with ten specific problems. Over the course of history, different sins become predominant. The threat now is these two. Do not get caught in the trap of the eight-out-of-ten thinking. Deal with these two big ones and the other eight will be easy.
This may seem like a simple message. Just two items. And I am not trying to explain why they are wrong.
I believe that you may be at the position that you know they are wrong and you know you need to do something.
This is then just that little push. It may be all you need. Now is the time. You may not get another chance.
But look on the results of repentance. It is not a life of shame. It is forgiveness. It is a restoration. It is happiness and joy. It is true freedom.
