It’s Christmas again. what should you gift your family and friends?
December brings to mind many things: Christmas, boxing day, presents, family and best of all, good food. But what do you usually do with the presents that you get, and don’t like?
Christmas is a great holiday - we get to spend time with family - but what is the best present for these family members? Cards? Gifts Cards? Money?
First, you need to think about the person. Go to his or her Facebook profile and see if they’ve posted about things they’d really like to buy. Be creative! Try to describe your friend on paper, is he or she happy, grumpy, funny, sporty? For example: Fred is funny, shy, geeky. Perhaps the best gift for Fred would be a Star Wars spoof DVD, action figure or a T-shirt?
It’s always tough to find the right gift for a friend or family member. But keep in mind that it is better to give something that the person is going to use than something that they will lose in a corner or leave somewhere else.
If the first tip didn’t help well let’s try this: Before facing the massive lines and the busy stores to do your shopping, just take a breath and relax, yes try yoga ! Look around. What do you see? Your grandmother’s old vase from the previous Christmas? Is it worth keeping? Should it go away? Is it going to be used in the future?
Doing this will allow you to consider how many things you have that are unnecessary. The gifts that you don’t like, presents that are just not worth keeping, old or broken items that you don’t want to put away because they were a gift from your granny should all really go in the bin!
In the end of this little house clearance exercise, you will understand what’s nice to keep and will be able to think about similar useful, nice-to-have presents for others.
Think about it, clear your space, clear your mind, and identify a great gift for your friends and family!
