Vacuum Cleaner Shopping Secrets Revealed

Shopping for a good vacuum cleaner can be overwhelming for a lot of buyers. There have been a lot of advances in vacuum cleaners over the years so it's hard to buy one that's bad or you'd be unhappy with. Today, vacuum cleaner manufacturers are trying to meet the high demand for new and improved vacuums.

Bagged upright vacuum cleaners use the bags as a filter to trap the dirt. Some vacuums rely on bags or filters to trap the dirt; they can clog up and lose their suction. A vacuum cleaner should expel or exhaust only fresh, clean air.

Keep in mind vacuums will have a wide range of options and features to choose from; some have features like nozzles, extended cords and bright colors that add to the price. You may want an ‘after motor’ ‘true HEPA filter’ in a sealed system. Many full-sized models come with more features buyers are looking for.

You can save a lot of money buying vacuum cleaners online if you do some thorough research first. Lower end uprights may have headlamps and/or bumper protection for your furniture. In the lower-end of uprights you will find a few models that have an additional feature, like bagless models or models with bags and a full bag indicator light.

Make sure the machine feels comfortable. Find the extra tools and features you need, and forget about the ones you don't. Do you want an upright or canister?

Though they may not be more powerful, higher priced uprights have a lot of gadgets that may be handy for your home, providing you use them. If you plan to buy online you can still try out vacuum cleaners at your local vacuum cleaner dealers and stores that carry vacuum cleaners. Uprights in the higher price ranges may have suction hoses that are more sturdy and crush resistant.

You'll need to decide whether you want a bag or a bagless vacuum. Always check and see how long the warranty is good for; the longer the better of course. Read the warranty fine print so you know exactly what's covered in the event it's defective or you need it repaired.

Some canister vacuum cleaners do offer HEPA filtration. Find out the air watts to get a good indication of its suction power. If you buy a unit with a bag, you'll need to change bags frequently to cut down on the possibility of dirt, dust and other particle leakage.

Some vacuums will have a HEPA filter; this is always a good idea to keep your air free of the tiny particles that are stirred up when you vacuum. A bagless vacuum that uses filters may leak dust, dust mites, mold spores, fungus, bacteria, smoke particles, chemicals and allergen particles into the air, so small you may not be able to see all of them. If possible test air-tightness; you can do this by vacuuming for a little bit with a floor model and see how much dust has collected on the outside of the vacuum. HEPA type or HEPA-like filters may be made in similar ways to true HEPA filters and may resemble them but do not have to meet the same standards as true or absolute HEPA filters.

True or absolute HEPA filters must pass a strict test to be considered HEPA worthy. Reducing or eliminating particles will make cleaner air for everyone in your home. Look for the serial number and test results that are printed on true or absolute HEPA filters; make sure that the test results at .3 microns are 99.97 percent or above.

Make sure you comparison shop. Make sure to read all the vacuum cleaner ratings and reviews that you are able to find online and offline. Choosing the best vacuum cleaner for you is easier than ever.
