Divorce is a turning point in the lives of couples. It is more difficult for couples with kids to cope with divorce. Divorce takes place when there is total incompatibility between partners. It can be caused because of various reasons such as extra marital affairs, family crisis or addictions.

Divorces causes financial implications, Women suffer because of their lower earning potential and the fact that many fathers do not accept responsibility of their children. They refuse to support them after divorce.

Fathers can also be burdened financially as a result of divorce. Sometimes they have to pay a huge amount in alimony. Property distribution conflicts can turn out to be nasty. The court sometimes orders a 50-50 split in joint property.

Divorce also has many medical and psychological implications. Couples that are divorced are highly stressed due to increased responsibility. They also tend to be more depressed. Anger and distress are a part of most divorces. Divorced couples face a certain amount of loneliness.

Children of divorced couples are most affected. There are instances when they feel responsible for their parent's separation. They tend to be more prone to abuse. They are also more prone to clinical depression and usually need psychiatric help. Research has also proved that people from divorced families are more likely to commit suicide. They also suffer from various chronic diseases such as cancer and arthritis.

It is always advisable for couples to approach a counselor before deciding on a divorce. Divorce is not a viable option if things can be worked out among the partners.
