MADD Mothers Against Drunk Driving

Visitors: 420

Which mother would like to have her child as a victim of drunk driving? None, this is the reason why the organization called MADD (Mothers against Drunk Driving) came into existence. Several mothers have had their toddlers, teens and kids fall prey to a drunken driver's vehicle. The sorrow that grips the parents’ heart do not let loose. This is the main objective of MADD-to prevent drunk driving and create awareness about the same in society.

DUI (Driving under influence) and DWI (Driving while intoxicated) have become quite prevalent in the modern society. No longer is alcohol a taboo. Social drinking has become the norm. The word ‘party’ itself has come to imply drinks (except in case of children parties!)

It is also disheartening to see the youth indulge in such atrocities at such a young age itself. It aims to put a stop to this. All the campaigning and walks undertaken by this organization has made the government pass new rules and laws that have made the rules and penalties move harsher and stricter. The zero tolerance law (which states that the BAC limit should not exceed 0.00% in the case of youth and commercial drivers) is one example of such measures.

Organizations like MADD need all our support, help and guidance not only financially but also physically and emotionally. As responsible citizens, it is our duty to extend the same to them and wipe out drunken driving from the face of our country.

The sorrow that grips the parents’ heart do not let loose till they are no more.
