Of all the industries in the world, law firms seem to be the ones that stand the test of time. Justice is the backbone of our society and law firms, such as Blandy and Blandy from Reading have been the ones providing the services to make this happen.
Established in 1733, Blandy and Blandy from Reading is the 25th oldest law firm in the whole of the UK. Despite its name, Blandy and Blandy was originally founded by a vicar's son named Richard Simeon; John Blandy was the first of the Blandy's to join the firm in 1783. Later, William Andrews joined in 1795 to form Blandy and Andrews. Despite Andrews’ involvement, the Blandys went on to control the company for over 2 centuries, leading all the way up to the 21st century.
It is interesting to see what Blandy and Blandy from Ready have built themselves up to be throughout history. Most notably, John Jackson Blandy who began in 1816, managed to run every piece of the company with his own two hands, helping to build Blandy and Blandy to their current success. While practicing in the firm, he also took on the role of clerk to the borough coroner, the magistrates’ office, municipal charities and the under-sheriff. This hard work and diligence pushed the company forward and still underpins their ethos today.
Throughout the history of the company, it has had some dramatic moments. The most well-known drama was the bombing that occurred in 1943. The suspected culprit was most likely a German bomber plane on its way home who happened to drop the last of its bombs on Reading, unfortunately striking the building that housed Blandy and Blandy. The attack killed one member of staff and completely destroyed the front of the building.
Having rebuilt the building and subsequently the business, Blandy and Blandy went on to strive for success. By pushing forward with technology and a constant relook at modernisation, Blandy and Blandy now pride themselves on both their heritage and their longevity, but pledge to continue to provide the most relevant service to modern day society. From the small firm they once were, Blandy and Blandy have expanded their team considerably to offer a wide range of services and a whole host of expertise in each area. This added manpower has enabled them to push themselves up the rankings and to procure high profile customers such as Wembley Stadium and the Rugby Football Union.
Rated first in family law; wills, trusts and probate; and planning and licensing, Blandy continues to demonstrate that their advancements coupled with their experience keep them ahead of the game in law service provision. They also thank loyal customers for their continued services and stress that without them, their success would not have been possible.
Despite their current success and their growth throughout the three century period, Blandy and Blandy Solicitors still strive to provide more services at a higher level. They promise to continue to offer high quality support to all their customers as well as developing new techniques for the future of law in society.
