The development of many ecommerce websites during the past few years justify the emerging trend of online shopping. Neatly designed web pages are appealing to the customers and force them in buying products. Most of the web pages that are available on the electronic platform are either HTML or PHP coded. These languages obtained worldwide acceptance due to their simplicity and creativity. Content Management Systems are the newest among these scripting platforms.

They offer simple and cost effective solutions to heavy coding and designing. This article projects some of the pros and cons of CMS website development platform. Before discussing about CMS, a look back would be preferable to identify the pros and cons of the HTML language. HTML is the basic building block of webpages. These HTML sites are pretty secure and less hacker prone. The web development team always loved HTML because of its flexibility and simplicity. Search engine optimization was always a welcome feature in HTML web pages. Even though HTML boasted such advantages the drawbacks of HTML were numerous. This forced the implementation of CMS, Content Management Systems as they are known. CMS is an all in one package with sufficient resources for the web development company to work upon.

CMS possess many advantages but it’s also not free of defects. The advantages of CMS include its ability to edit multiple pages at a time increasing the efficiency. Manageability in site maintenance cost is an added advantage. All in one package offers extreme flexibility in the developing platform. Any web development company can make use of CMS for the purpose of creation of ecommerce webpage. Addition of plugins, extensions and themes are added advantages of Content Management Systems. Small scale businesses can extract the profit using CMS since it is very simple to use and maintain for small companies. Template layouts and themes are included in the package and can be used according to the developing team’s ideas.

Even though CMS is a powerful and flexible platform, certain drawbacks pull CMS from being the best choice out there for web developers. HTML was one of the powerful and secure languages available for scripting.

CMS is not that secure and is prone to hacking and other back door exploits. While HTML boasted of seamless addition of search engine optimization techniques, CMS suffered from the bug that SEO didn’t merge well with it or required special tweaks or setting strings to be added on. Upgradation also is on the heavier side when a CMS is considered. In the long run CMS can prove to be a burden to manage since its poor to handle continuous updation and maintenance. Even these set of drawbacks are not enough to out vote CMS since they are simple and effective on the positive side. The pros and cons of CMS are discussed in this article. It’s up to the web development company to sort out which one of the above choices suits the client’s requirements. When you select a service provider for your business website, take time and invest effort to fetch the best one. Nitesh Ahir is CEO of professional Web Development Company esparkinfo solution.
