Percentage of internet users will visit a social network at least once a month, rising to 67.6% in 2013 and 70.7% in 2014. At those user rates, one out of every five people in the world will use a social network, and one in every four will do so in 2014. According to Comscore study, India is World's 7th Largest Internet Market growing at 11.2%. There are 21 million people in India who are estimated to visit social media sites regularly which is 60.3% of the total active Indian Internet audience. More than 90% of Indian online users belong to 18-45 age group which has high purchase power and high disposable income. A typical Social media site visitor in India spends 110.4 minutes on the site and makes 10.4 visits per month to a social network. The Social Media Websites in India are growing by almost 100% year after year.
According to a survey, 64% business in India use social media to engage, connect with and inform existing customers. In India 67% of firms encourage their employees to join social networks such as LinkedIn and Xing, compared to 53% globally. The survey also says, 49% of Indian companies devote up to 20% of their marketing budgets to business social networking activity in India.
