I remember when I first started struggling with pay per click advertising. I didn't know my CTR from CPR. It was the biggest mess you ever saw. Fortunately, I've learned a lot since those early days. And while pay per click advertising is not my main bag of tricks, I've come far enough along that is generates me a nice side income without having to put in much time at all. So what's the secret? What makes PPC so easy once you get the hang of it? Well, in this article, I'm going to share my most prized insider secrets. This is something you don't get from just any book.
At the top of my list is split testing. See, you really don't know how good or bad a campaign is until you have something to compare it to. But what? You're certainly not going to get competitors to share THEIR campaigns with you. So there is only one way to compare results. You have to split test your own ads. This is easy enough to do. You create one ad group for your product, whatever it is, and then create a second ad group to test against it. Let your campaign run for at least 100 clicks and see which one performs better. Keep the better performing one and get rid of the dog, replacing it with a new test ad. Keep doing this until you feel your campaign has been optimized. Simple, right?
Next is actually creating the ad itself. This is where a lot of people have problems. They aren't natural born copywriters. Well, there is an easy way around this. All you have to do is take the keyword phrase that you're targeting and make that the first line in your ad. This way, your ad will EXACTLY match what the prospect is looking for. The second line, give the best feature or benefit and the third line, give your call to action, such as “Order Today!" Simple, right?
Finally, there is ad targeting. Most PPC campaigns are targeted to the US and English speaking markets. The problem is, most marketers set up their campaigns to be shown all over the world. This is a big mistake. By restricting your campaigns to countries like the US, Great Britain and Canada, you will minimize your costs and increase your CTR. Simple, right?
Don't make PPC advertising more difficult than it really is.
