How to Increase Your Optin Rate and Build Your List Faster For More Profits

The money is in the list. If you've been involved in internet marketing for any length of time you've probably heard that phrase quite a lot. And it's true.

Maybe not for every niche but you can build a list in a lot of niches. And you should.

So how to you accelerate your list building efforts and build your list faster?

One easy way is to do more with the traffic you already get. This means increasing your optin conversion rate.

If you're getting only 5% of the people who come to your site to optin to your list and you improve that to 10% you're going to double the number of subscribers you get with the same amount of traffic. That's powerful stuff!

So how do you do this?

One way is to improve your offer. Give them a powerful incentive for giving up their email address. When getting email was a novelty all you had to do was offer up your free newsletter and the subscribers poured in.

Nowadays people are overwhelmed with email, both legitimate and spam. You'll need to provide more than a free newsletter to get the optin.

Here are a few incentives you can provide to get people on your list.

1. Run A Contest

Depending on your niche you can run an ongoing contest. Let's say you have a site that sells things like t-shirts, coffee mugs, sweatshirts, etc. You want to build a list that you can notify every time you have a sale or new product.

Hold a contest where you give away a free t-shirt each month to a random drawing winner. To enter people have to subscribe to your list.

2. Survey

Create a survey that would provide valuable information to your visitors. In order to get the results of the survey, they have to optin to your list.

3. Offer a Whitepaper

A whitepaper is nothing more than an authoritative document or report on a specific subject. This is a good idea if you sell a product or service and are trying to position yourself as an expert in your niche.

You can deliver this as a digital download PDF.

4. Free Course

You see this one a lot. This can basically be like a whitepaper but instead of delivering a PDF you use an autoresponder and break the report into different parts.

Then you have the autresponder deliver each individual part of the course over a period of time.

For example, your course on how to save money for college may be broken down into seven parts, each one delivered three days after the previous one.

5. Free downloadable software

Free software is a great optin incentive. Of course, it has to be relevant to your niche.

6. Free “Members Only" Area

You can provide content in a free members only area. This is basically like delivering a free newsletter but it has a higher perceived value when you put the information online behind a password protected area.

Consider testing one or more of these optin incentive ideas and what your optin's increase dramatically.
