Most beginner internet marketers are looking for free traffic. It is important to dispel the myth that free traffic exists. Any type of traffic has a cost, but it does not necessarily have to be a cost in dollars. This is an example of a disadvantage of viral marketing, it takes a lot of work to set up a campaign.
Viral marketing is based on a simple premise and it is similar to the type of virus that you are familiar with. If you go to work with a cold, chances are you will give that cold to one of your co-coworkers. Your co-worker will, in all likelihood, bring that cold virus home to a family, who would bring it to school. This will continue until someone finally decides to stay home with the cold, and not spread it any further.
In viral marketing it is a similar premise. A customer tells others, an average of about three people, about a product or service he/she likes, and eleven people about a product or service which he/she did not like. Viral marketing is based on this natural human behavior.
In practice, you create a product, and give it away for free, and give others the same right to give it away for free. This way you will eventually, in theory, have an unlimited number people giving away your product. You hope to monetize your product by the back end links in your ebook, but there is a great deal of work involved in setting up this product.
There is a better way, first you decide how much you want to earn, then do what you have to do to earn it.
Here is where you can learn how.
