Tip 1: Personalize Your Message
Begin your email by addressing the person by his or her name. As the case maybe, you could either prefix with a Mr. /Ms. , etc. but do mention the name or surname. Not doing so often negates the chances of your addressee even reading your email. So convey the message upfront that the recipient of your email is indeed the person you wish to communicate with.
Tip 2: Be Individualistic in Your Approach
Do not ‘CC’ and ‘BCC’ others in your email. Let the addressee feel that he or she is the sole individual exclusive recipient of your communication. That way, your recipient will feel that much more important and pay extra heed to your communication.
Tip 3: Have an Apt Subject Line
The importance of the subject line cannot be more emphasized. That is because, without an appropriate subject line, chances are your recipient may not even open your email (and obviously nothing would be achieved from your viewpoint!). So not only ensure that there is a subject to your email, but also ensure that it is appropriate.
Tip 4: Be Upfront About the Purpose of Your Email
The first paragraph of your email body should make it clear to the recipient as to why you are writing in. This is especially true in case of longer emails. If that is not clear, chances are your recipient would not even bother to read further.
