As you initiate the process of putting into place your very own online marketing program, you soon realize that you will achieve zilch without an effective email marketing strategy. That's where you find yourself at your wit's end, as you have no such strategy in place. Don't worry; help is at hand, in the form of the steps enlisted below.
Step 1: Get the Sender's Name and the Subject Line in Place
Ensure that the Sender column has your name, ideally both your First Name as well as your Last Name. People do not like receiving emails from strange-sounding standalone email IDs. Even more importantly, have the Subject line in place - without an appropriate and effective subject line, chances are, your mail will never be read, or worse - deleted altogether without opening.
Step 2: Be Clear in Terms of What You Expect the Recipient to do
In other words, your email must be actionable. You must clearly specify what you expect the recipient to do. . . Attend your discount sale? Be there at a seminar that you are organizing? Download a free Ebook? Without this aspect, the recipient will only wonder about the entire purpose of your email, and in all probability, trash it.
Step 3: Facilitate Purchase on the Landing Page
Once your recipient actually opens your email and goes to the landing page where you would like him to be headed, ensure a smooth and comfortable landing! In other words, make the terrain such that the recipient finds it convenient to purchase. An instance of doing so could be by pre-filling the form with the customer's details that you have already gathered.
Step 4: Test the Efficacy of Your Emails
This would involve checking all the links, removing any broken ones, etc. This would also involve tracking click-through rates and measuring conversion rates. You could also conduct independent surveys of focus groups.
Follow the above outlined steps, and your email marketing strategy should well be in place, comfortably!
