A business plan! If the thought of writing one gives you the shakes and chokes the breath out of you, you're going to be thankful for the ebook Make Your Business Plan Soar. This ebook is both a template and a course in how to write a captivating business presentation.
It is laid out like a business plan. Note that this is not simply a template that you can download and fill in. That's because the author, MaryAnn Shank, with over twenty years of experience as an editor and reviewer of business plans, understands that a good presentation shows the heart and soul of the business. Instead, the ebook shows the reader what that looks like.
Then to be sure that the reader understands what a good presentation looks like, MaryAnn has included one for an imaginary company, Seasound Products, Inc. I found the combination of example and how-to a powerful combination. The example made it crystal clear to me that my own plan would need to have its own personality. I could follow the given business plan outline easily.
One of the features I liked was the series of highlighted tips, “For an Unusually Dynamic Presentation. " Those alone make the ebook worthwhile. After all, businesses are in competition for investment dollars. An unusually dynamic presentation will make a business stand out among the rest.
I also appreciated the following information.
- Why it's usually best to leave out The Executive Summary, and how to write a great one if one is absolutely needed
- Why it's critical to highlight the people team and how to present that team
- Where to find the market research that investors need
- How to determine how much start up money a company needs
The financial worksheets make the numbers a breeze.
The Appendix on Market Analysis would help business owners whether they need a business outline or not. For example, I realized that I'd been ignoring my competition to my peril and The Six Os of Customer Buying Behavior have become part of my understanding of my clients. I refer to the list when I write sales copy or when I write to an individual potential client.
When you need a business plan, you need money. It makes sense to invest in a strong and effective presentation for those who hold the purse strings.
