Every day there are millions of users browsing the internet. It is fast becoming the most popular way to communicate, sell products and share your voice with an audience that was never obtainable for the average person.
If you have thought about creating an online blog or website, but have been affraid of the technical side of getting a .com address, you will be glad to know that thanks to the rapid progression of technology it has become an extremely simpletask.
I hope that by reading this article I will be able to lead you step-by-step through the process.
1. Choose a domain name
When choosing a domain name I would reccommend staying away from dashes “-" and numbers (both numeric and written) as these make it harder to verbally communicate your domain name
Personally I always try and stick with a .com, .net or .org as these are the most widely know domain extensions (TLDs)
When choosing your domain name, try and think of something that helps your audience instantly recognize your product or service that you are offering
2. Find a registrar
Personally I use GoDaddy.com for all of my domain names, they are the largest domain registrar in the world and are quite easy to deal with.
If you don't like GoDaddy, a simple google search will give you a plethora of domain registrars.
3. Check if the domain is available
Possibly the hardest part of registering a domain is the disappointment that you get if you spend a great deal of time comming up with the perfect domain, only to find out that somebody has already registered it.
Just remember to be unique, creative and don't give up.
4. Purchase the domain
Once you fin'd a suitable domain, go ahead and add it to your cart and follow the instructions provided by your registrar to help you add hosting, email and get it all operational.
