Domain Name Registration is one of the most fundamental things to consider when thinking of making an online presence. The process of getting a domain registered can be really confusing for a newbie in the internet industry. If a user follows some basic guidelines he can surely get a great domain name registered. When seeking to buy a domain name, the user first needs to search for a Domain Registrar who can offer Domain Name Registration service to him.

As the web industry has developed considerably in the last few years, the user will not find it difficult to find a Domain Registration company. Once the user has picked out few names for registration, he can then go ahead use a domain name search tool at the registrar’s website to check the availability of the domain name. If the domain name is available for registration, the user can proceed further.

The process of Domain Registration may differ from a registrar to registrar, but almost all registrars follow two basic steps for registration; duration of registration and entering the contact information. When a user plans to register a domain name, he also needs to choose the time period for which he will like to register the domain name. A domain can usually be registered for a minimum 1 year and up to 10 years.

Selecting the time period primarily depends on what the user is going to use the domain for. If the domain is meant for a business purpose, the user needs to register it for the maximum duration. If it is going to be used for a general purpose, it can be for a lesser duration. The other thing the user needs to ensure is that he provides the complete contact information to the registrar while registering the domain name.

There are a number of Domain Registrars that offer economical domain registration services today. So how does one go about picking the right service provider? The first thing that a user must consider is the prices being charged by the registrar. It is usually not very expensive to register a domain name; the user is advised to search for the cheapest registrar. The user should pick that company that timely notifies its customers about expiration and renewal dates of domain names . Many companies also offer their clients with several add-on services, such as free web hosting and free email accounts with every domain. Users should always be on the lookout for such companies, so that they can crack a great deal.
