There are different types of blog directories and they usually have a range of listing options for blogs. The nature of the blog that is being submitted may also determine the type of listing available on a blog directory. There are some directories which offer only free listings and here anyone can submit their blog and get it listed. There are again some blog directories which offer listings only to get reciprocal back links to the directory. Here the users need to submit their blogs for free but in exchange they need to put up a link on their blog which will lead back to the directory site. There are again some which offer paid listing options. These sites usually provide added features such as improved listings and faster review times to list the blogs. Some of these paid directories again have a bid for position offer. In such cases the different sites need to bid for a higher position in a blog directory.

There are some blog directories which are automated. They ask the users to submit the details of their blog and there is an automatic inclusion on the directory without time required for review. The other category consist of directories which are edited by humans and there is a team of paid or voluntary employees who will review a blog which is submitted and ensure that certain criteria are met before the blog is listed on a blog directory. Such human intervention is required to ensure that the blogs fit certain categories, the excerpts submitted is accurate and so forth. In the modern blog world a blog directory thus plays a vital role. It allows one to find many blogs at one place and many directories have a high rank on search engines due to which blogs listed on them are guaranteed higher exposure than on other directories.

The high ranking of a blog directory is usually due to the amount of inbound links which are provided from other sits. The relevancy of the content on such sites as well as the way they are structured goes a long way to ensure that a blog directory is more exposed than others. Thus blog directory owners are also involved in increasing the ranking of their site.

Blog directory submission is one of the efficiently working tools that offer your websites with many one-way links. Submitting to blog directory is a great way to increase the site exposure.
