For those people, who are still wondering what is a blog and they can set up their blog for free, I am writing this article to let you know how you can create your own blog today. It doesn't take long, it's easy and the best - it's free.

If you want you can spend some little money to buy your own domain and get hosting to put the blog on your own hosting account, but this is option as you can run a blog with no cost at all. However, I would advise you to get at least your own domain associated with the content you are going to post. It will cost you around $10 to get a .com domain, so it's really cheap.

There are two blogging platforms, which are considered the best, and they are used by millions people all over the world. I will give you a short description of each, and then you can choose, which one you want to choose.

1. Blogger

Blogger is a blogging platform developed by Google. Having a blog on Blogger can give a big advantage in Google search results, because it owns Blogger, so your blog will rank higher, rather than other websites.
This is probably the easiest blogging platform to use, and doesn't require any special IT skills. Just type “blogger" in Google and you will find the official website. Then register and start your blog.

2. Wordpress

Wordpress is another blogging platform, which is actually much more flexible in terms of themes, graphics and overall design. While Google's Blogger websites all look very similar, self-hosted Wordpress blogs can significantly vary in design. There are so many templates for Wordpress, that literally you can fully personalize your blog to match your content.

If you don't host your blog on your hosting account, then you will have only limited number of templates to choose from, because if you want to apply any template to your Wordpress blog, then you will need a space to upload them. If you are serious about blogging, then I would suggest getting a domain, webhosting and go for Wordpress blog. You will realize later that it has much more advantages compared to Blogger. In my opinion, Blogger is very simple and it's not suitable for professional online business.

After you have registered your blog and started to post content on it, you can make money from traffic you will get. There are lots of ways how you can make money from your blog and Rob Benwell, well-known Internet marketer, shows many profitable techniques in his blogging guide called Blogging To The Bank .
