Buying Wholesale From China - Overcoming Problems When Importing from China

Visitors: 283

When we think about buying wholesale goods from china, the idea is both exciting and terrifying. Its exciting in the sense that china's wholesale goods are usually very cheap and they can be resold fairly easily. But its also terrifying as China wholesalers are known for fake or replicas goods (which explains their extremely low wholesale price) and their use of insecure mode of payment.

For anyone who has been to China, its a known fact that the country is filled with markets and back-alley shops and you will find a lot wholesale vendors or stall operators selling low priced polo tees to Nintendo Wii. In fact, most wholesale companies will not be able to match the low prices you get in China. In my experience however, a vast majority of brand-name goods that come from China are either fakes or replicas. You only defense is to always assume all goods are fakes unless proven otherwise because you don't want to end up with a huge stock of fake goods which no one wants.

Despite these dangers, there are still genuine china suppliers out there! In my opinion, I feel that its best to get generic goods wholesale from china (its manufactured there so its impossible to find a cheaper alternative) which can be resold at a much higher price. An example would be scooters, bikes and electronic goods as they do not require any branding to sell well.

Another problem you might encounter when buying wholesale from china is their use of western-union or wire transfer as payment method. Both methods are widely regarded as insecure payment option because they do not require identification, hence they must be treated with caution! Despite these obvious danger, its ironic that you still have to use such payment methods when importing from china simply because its the only feasible payment method for them. China's government have strict regulations and criteria for getting a credit card, thus most people do not qualify to own one.

The safest way to proceed is to start with a small order so that in the worst case scenario (scam, fake goods), the losses are kept to the minimal. As time goes by, when you found the suppliers which are able to constantly meet your orders, gradually increase your imports with them.

Lastly, its also an excellent idea to use an online wholesale directory when buying wholesale from china because they do all the research work for you! A good directory will even screen the suppliers and review them accordingly, removing the risk of ending up with fraudsters.
