I've been doing affiliate marketing for years already but I recently got into a good paying job that stopped affiliate marketing altogether. That, I have to admit, was the greatest mistake I made in my career. You see, day jobs are good if you're happy with a life of servitude. It may look stable but it really isn't. You'll never know when the company will close down, when you'll get fired.
Anyway, back to my story. I was jobless for more than a month already and our savings was starting to dry up. Even worst, I need to enroll my two kids to school within two weeks. My wife kept on reminding me about it and I was starting to get worried. I knew that even if I got a job the next day, there's still no way that I will be able to raise enough money to pay for the tuition fee. It was at this time that I decided to switch on my computer and get back to affiliate marketing.
I was already a bit rusty and I knew that some of my “techniques" were already outdated but I still gave it a try. I studied my market and decided on what type of product to sell. I then logged on to my Clickbank account and chose a product that matches the profile of my market. I now have my market and a product. Only thing left to do was to promote it.
Without money to pay for advertising, I started signing up for a bunch of free blogging accounts and started posting about the product I'm selling. Knowing that that wouldn't be enough, I started typing articles and quickly managed to come up with 5 well-written articles by the end of the day. I then submitted these articles to as many articles directories as I can find then went to bed.
The next morning, I opened up my computer hoping to see some sales come in but I didn't see any. None of my articles have been approved yet so I wrote a few more and submitted them as well. I also updated my blogs (a total of 5) and told my friends about it. Then just before lunch time, I saw my first glimpse of hope. I had my first sale! It was a measly $20 but it was still money that I didn't have.
That first sale then became two, then three and so on. By the fourth day, I've reached my goal. I already had enough money to pay for my kids’ tuition fees. With a twist of luck, the product owner sent in his affiliate payments 8 days after I made my first sale. Just enough to get it into my Paypal account so I can withdraw it and pay for the tuition fees.
I'll never forget that experience and I chose never to leave affiliate marketing again.
I also suggest that you take a look at the free ebook called Affiliate Money Machine, it helped me a lot. You may download it here
