Want to easily find someone? How about doing it online?
It's interesting to me that while we all laud the internet and it's amazing use of ones and zeros as having completely sped up life, we fail to realize that with so much media hitting us in the fractions of seconds and at such blinding speeds that many times when we attempt to do things like easily find someone on the net, we very often end up doing something completely different.
Two nights ago, I was trying to easily find someone that I had gone to college with. We had both been on the crew team at Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA and I was really looking forward to quickly and easily getting back in touch with him and remember some of the crazy things we used to do at The Head Of The Charles regatta in Boston.
Rather than go the way I now know of, and trying to come at the process as a person who was really in the dark as to how to easily find someone online, I allowed myself to be steered by the internet marketing minds out there that (as it turns out) had very different plans for me.
Yes, I answered a Google Ad, and yes, the first few pages on that quest to find that person were all about the finding and how great the end results of that would be. . . BUT THEN THE CHANGE CAME.
Then I started to notice that the sites were literally steering me AWAY from my original intention which again was to easily find someone.
These site started using the KNOWLEDGE of my wanting to reconnect to get into the VALUE of those feelings. They started talking about memories and in particular, the great memories. And then, very carefully and very deliberately, the messaging on those sites turned more into the owning of camera. . . digital cameras.
See how sneaky that was?
How deft a line they had to walk?
Well, it was only an experiment, I'm happy to report, because there is a GREAT way to easily find someone online. And not only is this search engine 100% dedicated to the finding of people only, but there is no advertising on the site to ask you to do anything other than what you had set out to do in the first place.
You can easily find someone and not go internet dizzy. I'm living proof!
Right now is the perfect time to avoid all the advertising and marketing nonsense and easily find someone .
