Starting up your new eBay account can be one of two things. A very good, easy experience, or a very bad, hard experience. Although it can be pretty easy to do, it really isn’t as easy as signing up and starting right away. If you are planning on using your eBay account for buying on eBay, it actually is that easy. If you are planning on selling it is a little bit more complex.
The first thing to think about when opening an eBay account is PayPal account. If you want to get paid, you first need to get a PayPal account. Before you do that it’s a good idea to get a separate email address just for eBay and PayPal with yahoo or hotmail. That way you don’t have to get all your eBay mail mixed in with your personal mail. Once you get your new email (which will only take a minute) then you are ready for the PayPal account. To have a good PayPal account you will need to provide all your personal information, along with your bank account information, and credit card information. You will also need to upgrade to a premium account. The free account won’t get you very far on eBay, and your account needs the upgrade before you can get verified. It’s okay if some of the stuff I am throwing at you doesn’t make sense. It will once you go to PayPal and check it out. This is just so you don’t jump straight onto eBay and make an account without doing this other stuff first. These may seem like small things, but trust me they will make things much easier for you down the road.
Once you have your PayPal account all taken care of you can move onto eBay. The actual sign up, and set up of the account is very easy to do. It takes just a matter of minutes. The important part is that what you do with your account right after you sign up. If you are going to sell on eBay then you first need to get some feedback. The feedback system is what eBay uses for it’s users to get a better understanding of who they are doing business with. Your feedback rating is your reputation. You can get more on feedback in my article I wrote called eBay Feedback.
Now that you got your PayPal account to get paid, and your feedback to show that you are a legitimate eBayer, you are ready to go. EBay is a very competetive area to go into, however the opportunities are endless. Just don't forget that preperation is one of the keys to success.
