The first key to making real money online is to have a quality product to sell. And information products are hands-down the best type of product to sell online.
But don't discount physical items. Some people make great money selling jewelry, automobile accessories, even paintball supplies online. Information products are just the easiest to promote and sell online.
You can get an information product to sell in any number of ways:
* Create your own - choose a topic you're knowledgeable about and write a “how to" guide, or a review
* Sell someone else's product (affiliate marketing)
* Buy resale rights to an already completed product and sell it for all the profit
Possibly the best way for anyone to get started making money online is with Affiliate Marketing. It's easy because all you have to do is find a quality product to promote and you get paid when someone buys it. Of course, that's the extremely simplified version, but not bad, huh?
So how do you go about finding a quality product to promote?
First, look at the market. Most people fail because they get their product first and then try to force it onto the market. You should always do the opposite - find a hot product first and then promote it. If it's a hot product, you already know there's a hungry market there!
When you're just starting out, it's best to stick with the products that are selling well today. When you have a bit more experience, you can start to look for hot new trends and get in on products that are about to launch. This is a great way to make affiliate money, but it takes some knowledge and usually a “heads up" by some insider.
ClickBank is a great place to find hot products to promote if you're new to affiliate marketing. You can also go to Google and type in, “(your niche) affiliate program" to find a market you're knowledgeable about.
For example, if you wanted to promote a product on Google Adsense, you could type in, “Adsense ebook affiliate program" and you should get a list of some good eBooks to promote.
Be sure to pick one that has a persuasive sales letter and high commissions. I never promote a product that pays less than $20 per sale. And you don't have to actually buy the product before you promote it, but I like to.
It helps to know what's in the product you're promoting. That way I can decide if it really is a good product or not. Second, I can write about the product with more authority. Besides, I'd never want to promote a product that I wasn't happy paying for myself.
