Does a product that offers higher commissions means that it will be better for me to promote? This is the question that most affiliates will have when they are first starting out on affiliate marketing.
Most of the affiliates will assume that the one that will gives them the highest commissions will be the best affiliate programs. This is not totally true at all. It is always nice to have nice commissions but you will have to look out for certain things. You definitely do not want to waste your valuable time promoting a high commissions affiliate program that is totally useless. So what are the things that you have to look out for?
The first thing that you have to take note of how much is the merchant charging for the product. Some of the dishonest merchant will purposely raise the values of their product so that they will be able to offer higher commissions. One thing that you have to know is that the customer is not stupid. They will be able to know whether you have overcharged the product or not. If they feel that your product, they will look for another product that serves the same function but it is lower in price.
Now let’s look from another point of view. What if you are promoting a program that is offering lower commissions but has much lower prices then the customer is going to buy from them instead of the other merchant? You will realize that if the product is reasonably priced, the conversion will be good. You will definitely earn more money if you can get more sales.
So it is important to look beyond the commissions when you are looking for a good affiliate program to promote. Do not just blindly choose one affiliate programs just because it offers you very high commissions.
