The internet has become such a popular place that great advertising methods are needed to compete. If you know how to write great ads then you will have an edge over the competition. The AIDA formula is not new but it is the basic foundation of information you will need to write a quality marketing campaign or ad. All of the marketers out there can tell this is the best way to get more sales.

Attention

You need to get the attention of the target audience by having very powerful headlines that get them to read the rest of the information. This is a crucial piece of advertising and it counts for about 50% of the success of the advertisement. It doesn't matter how good the body of the ad is because if they headline doesn't get their attention then they aren't going to read anything else.

Take some time reading headlines for other ads. What captures your attention about some of them? Why did you choose to not read some articles after the headline? A good place to look at headlines is the National tabloids because they definitely get people's attention and you can even put their ideas to work for you by modifying them to fit your needs.

Interest

You have them hooked; now you have to keep them interested. For a classified ad getting their attention is all you really need. However if you are writing for any other purpose then you have to hold their interest by offering some powerful material in the first couple of paragraphs.

Desire

You want the reader to get excited about what you are promoting. Tell them what they have to gain by getting it. They need to know what benefits the product offers them. This will trigger their desire to get the product and they will act on the information you provide.

Action

Getting the reader to take action is your main objective in the advertisement. It needs to tell the reader what they need to do in order to take advantage of what you are offering. It can be to get them to sign up for a newsletter, go to your website, or to make a purchase. Make sure the action they should take is clearly stated as well as any necessary instructions.

Following this plan is going to help you with generating more traffic to your site as well as making more sells. Read plenty of sales letters that you receive as well as those you find online. This will give you a good idea of how the marketing development has to flow to be effective. Why spend your time trying to reinvent the wheel when all you really need to do is make it move faster?
