Lots of people tell me that they want to write an ebook in order to make some money on the Internet, but they don't know how to go about it. Well, hopefully, this article will give you some basic instructions that will more than get you started on your way to writing your own ebook. Trust me, it's not that hard.
The first step in the process is probably the hardest. You need to decide what it is that you're going to write about. The easiest way to go about doing this is to sit down and make a list of all your hobbies and interests. It's a lot easier to write about things that you are already familiar with than to have to research something from scratch.
After you have decided what you want to write about, the next step in the process is to decide what angle you want to tackle the subject from. Let's say for example that you want to write an ebook on bowling. Now, there are lots of things about bowling itself that you could write about. You could write about the history of bowling, which is a very rich topic filled with facts and figures. You may want to tackle bowling from the angle of bowling instruction. You could write a book with step by step instructions on how to improve somebody's game. Another book you could write about bowling might be on tips for finding the right bowling equipment, such as bowling balls, shoes and so on. As you can see, there are many angles that you can approach a subject from, which means that over time, you can write more than one book on the subject.
After you have decided what angle you want to attack the subject from, the next step is to make an outline. For example, if you're writing a book on bowling instruction, you might want to start with an introduction, then move onto the approach, then the delivery, types of shots, such as straight, hook, curve, and so on. If you map out what's going to be in the ebook beforehand, it will make the actual writing of it a whole lot easier.
The next step is to actually start writing. At this stage, once the outline has been mapped out, the actual writing will be very easy. Remember, you're writing about something that you have knowledge of. Just be yourself and write from your heart. Don't try to be a Hemmingway. Keep the sentences simple if you have to. Just make sure you communicate your thoughts clearly.
After you finish writing, proofread your work and if you can afford to hire a professional proofreader, do it. You don't want an ebook going out there with a lot of grammatical and spelling errors.
Finally, convert your writing, which can be done in just about any text editor, into PDF format. There are plenty of free PDF converters on the Internet so you don't have to even spend money to get this done.
Believe it or not, creating an ebook is not rocket science. If you follow the outline above, you'll be surprised at how easy the whole process really is.
