I have been talking about how I use article marketing to drive traffic to my list building, and why article marketing is so very important to my list building campaigns. I have tested probably 30 or 40 different forms of traffic for my list building campaigns, and have built a list of over 13,000 subscribers, 6500 of which are absolutely unique and approximately 20% of whom purchase products from me, I have come up with article marketing as having hands-down the very best form of traffic generation that I can do.
Now, I have to admit that article marketing does not create the same numbers of traffic as pay per click or sponsored search engine results. I can generate as much as 5000 or 10,000 hits per day using pay per click traffic, and unfortunately that traffic simply doesn't convert. The opt in e-mail rate on the squeeze pages is simply much lower, significantly lower with pay per click or even natural search engine traffic than with article marketing traffic.
So what is the psychology behind this? I think that one of the biggest things with article marketing is the someone is taking the time to read from 250 to 500 words from me, and has developed a bond with me. And approximately 2 to 4% of the people who read my articles actually click through to my squeeze page, and then that squeeze page opt in rate can be as high as 65% or even a tad higher, because people are prequalified.
Many times with pay per click or even organic or natural search engine results, the people don't really even know what they are looking for. So that click through, and perhaps you are charged for it, and your squeeze page really doesn't mean anything to them, because it's a bunch of bullets, which might mean a lot to someone who has read when my articles, but it doesn't mean that anything to someone who lands on it after punching a few words into a search engine.
