If you look after them, they will look after you, and it start with your free gift. An ebook written by yourself displays a confidence in your own abilities that they will notice, since most free gifts are somebody else’s work. Once you have completed writing your chapters, you should have a final summing up chapter if relevant to the subject. You should also provide a list of references if you have quoted anybody else’s work.
A glossary of terms, if your ebook is of a technical nature, is always useful, and something that could have your reader revisiting time after time. Some useful links are always appreciated, and finally you will have finished. Some people do not provide a list of contents in free ebooks, but they are usually appreciated by your readers, and should be included. You should also include a notice informing them if they have or have not got resale or distribution rights.
If you have managed to include a few affiliate links in your book, providing them with free distribution rights can make your book viral. You should make it clear that they can sell or give the book away free, but must not change any of the content.
Finally, in what format do you intend to distribute it? PDF is generally best because everybody can read a PDF ebook if they have a PDF reader such as Acrobat. Although most computers have Acrobat, it is good etiquette to provide a link to acrobat.com. If you need a PDF writer to convert your word processor text then there are several free options on the internet. Just carry out a search for a ‘free pdf writer’.
That’s how to write an ebook for your list building bonus, and it is not as difficult as you might think. Get started and you will be loath to stop. It grows on you!
