Authority Sites and Web 2.0 Equal Profits

Building a profitable business on the internet requires a process that includes three major components:

1. An Authority Site

2. Traffic using Web 2.0 Systems

3. Monetization

Authority Site

Websites that are static are a thing of the past. And if you open your doors with a static web site today you'll spend far too much money trying to compete. Those sites are dead or dying. To be successful online today you should strive to build an authority site.

What is an authority site? Simply it is a site that all others consider the “authority" in that niche. Other websites link to you and reference your url in their content, simply because you offer quality content.

Important: Your site does not have to be the authority site to make money but you do need to strive for that goal. The closer you get the more money you'll make in your chosen niche.

Traffic using Web 2.0 Systems

Which do you prefer, traffic you pay for or targeted traffic that you don't have to pay for? That's an easy answer.

With an Authority Site as your foundation and a publishing platform that integrates SEO and web 2.0 systems you can get all of the targeted traffic you desire without blowing your advertisement budget.

Incorporating tools to allow the user to define how the content is delivered is your smartest bet. For instance, the use of RSS feeds and social bookmarking can help virally spread the word of your site.

Additionally, you can find many savvy marketers using social networking, social bookmarking and user controlled systems to enhance their income streams. The key is organizing and using all of this information to your advantage.

Monetization

Obviously, once you've set-up your website, with the goal of becoming an authority site, and applying effective web 2.0 systems to bring targeted traffic, your next step is to apply a simple monetizing strategy to create a healthy income stream.

Your strategy should be based on what you know about your topic and available products for your niche. There are many directions you can take, such as affiliate products, CPA offers or both.

Overall, trying to understand and pulling all of this information together yourself can be time consuming and let's face it, time is money.
