List building can be started out in two different ways-joining an autoresponder site, which will keep your email list for you and send out your messages, or by buying your own autoresponder program. Even if there was no difference in the services, I'd still choose the online service.
Why is that?
There are a couple of reasons, actually.
1. Online autoresponder services are in total legal compliance. You don't have to worry about it. You can concentrate on making more money.
2. Online autoresponders usually have a better deliverability rate. That's very important. If you've spent a great deal of time on list building activities, you want to be sure that your messages are getting through to the people on your list.
3. You don't have to worry about unsubscribes. The online service immediately takes that email address out of their system. You have to do that yourself, if you have your own autoresponder program. And don't forget! If you send more messages, you could be reported for spamming or held legally liable. You really don't want that.
4. Online services often have more features, like click tracking and RSS forwarding. And if they have an affiliate program, think about this: If you get just a few referrals, the list building and autoresponder system is so inexpensive, it will probably pay for itself.
If you've just started list building , this may not mean a great deal to you, but think about how hard a 10,000 person list will be to maintain!
If you have considered both options to assist you in list building and maintaining your list, my advice would be to go for the online paid service. One thing you have to remember is that your list is your most important asset. Spare no expense when it comes to list building and list maintenance.
