List building has become one of the most effective methods of web business monetization online today. There are many different ways to build a list; obviously the most important link in the list building process is an opt in box so that visitors can become subscribers.
The big question, is, though, do you put an opt in box on a existing web pages, or do you use a page that is exclusively dedicated to list building or opt ins (a squeeze page)?
Obviously, you should have an opt in box for every web page you have, but I believe you should also have a web page that is used exclusively for opt ins, or a squeeze page.
This squeeze page should be the primary entry point for all marketing. So the idea here is that every visitor that comes to the squeeze page has to opt in to your list to be able to see the rest of what is in your site.
Of course, to make that happen, you have to have something in your web site that the visitors want to have or see. Or, you can use an incentive to get the opt in. I like to offer a free gift that is directly associated with the theme of my web site. If it is not directly associated with the theme of your site, then you end up getting unsubscribes, etc –there are many reasons for that, but the bottom line is, keep your incentive directly related to your web site.
