You may have heard of travel insurance over the years, but would have never considered signing up for the same for many reasons. While most people consider life and car insurances very important, you wonder why many people are hesitant of travel insurance. Over the years, there has been a surge in people signing up for travel insurance and the only valid reason backing this is awareness of the policy. One of the common reasons does not understand the claims that can be made.

Knowing your travel insurance claims also means keeping an exact tab on claimable expenses. Remember most times you are in a foreign land, keeping track of figures is not your top priority. The most common of travel insurance claims would be for missing your departure flight. Now, one has to keep in mind that the insurer processes you claim only if you have missed you flight under circumstances that were beyond your control. If your had missed your flight because you left your home late or because you noted down the departure time wrong, you do not really qualify for a claim.

The second most common claim that is made is for loss of travel documents during an international trip. It can surely be a moment of severe stress and anxiety. You are in an unknown land and your passport and tickets have been stolen. In this case, you would have to follow standard procedure of informing the local police station before talking to the insurer. You will get your tickets and passports quicker since verifications happen much quicker because of the insurance and you will also be reimbursed for the expenses occurred.
