As people old their health deteriorates this is due to aging. Getting old is part or human life cycle from birth to death. In the early stages after birth the body is in a constant growth stage. New cells are being built giving boost to muscular development and hormone build up. At puberty the growth stops but does not start to slide for a long time.

After thirty five years depending upon a person’s lifestyle the aging process starts. Hormone unbalance muscle fatigue and early signs of debility step in. But the body remains strong and active till well over sixty to seventy years if the life style has been good. Aging is quite evident with physical, psychological and behavioral changes as they take place.

In many countries where joint family systems are in place elderly people are taken care of well. But this does not happen in modern societies and hence the need of elderly care home arises. In USA and many European countries well equipped nursing homes are available for care. Most of these are residential homes that offer nursing and care.

The care centers are very well equipped and follow norms set up by the health care agencies in their countries. Some of these are specialized to offer treatment for debilitating disease such as dementia. These centers are run by professional nurses and allied health experts. Many elderly people have physical disabilities and the residential homes provide assistance. Occupation and physical therapies are part of daily routine for the convalescent.
In circumstances when elderly people need nursing and care in UK the admission is mean tested. Besides the assessment their financial condition is also ascertained. Additional nursing funds are made available to the elderly by National Health Service subject to certain conditions.

The care homes have also been established under regional, religious and cultural lines. There are many homes established for Asians in this respect. People can find care in Asian Punjabi or Gujarati homes for cultural ease of living. These homes have been also built on religious aspects in UK.

The care home fee accrues from personal assets of the person. These sources are pensions and saving benefits mainly. In case of deficit the local council also assists in funding. The care homes in England are regulated by an institution called Care Quality Commission. This body is responsible for status check three times a year.
