Gardening is a very relaxing hobby with the added bonus that it isn't that expensive. Performing necessary garden chores can be an excellent way of spending time together as a family. Children are particularly fascinated at the way seeds grow into hearty vegetables and beautiful flowers. Gardening can also help appreciate outdoor life and nature. In this article, you will find advice to help you enjoy your garden and share that joy with others.

Invest in a quality wheelbarrow and a kneeling stool if gardening work is going to happen often. You can make gardening much more comfortable on your knees by using a portable garden stool. A wheelbarrow will help you move heavy items without hurting your back so ensure that you invest in one promptly.

When winter arrives, transfer some plants into the house to save them. Maybe you could pick out the most expensive plants or the most hardy ones. Dig around the roots carefully and transfer the plant to a pot.

When gardening, be sure to look closely for stink bug infestation, especially during Autumn. They thrive on fruits, citrus, peppers and various beans. If kept unchecked they can certainly do a ton of a damage to your garden so you should do what you need to to reduce their population.

Go slowly as you plant the seeds. Start by getting the soil good and moist. Then, distribute the seeds evenly, and see to it that they have space to grow. Multiply the size of each seed by three and bury the seed that deep. Some seeds you do not want to bury because they require light in order to grow.

Being a novice gardener, you should ensure that you follow the directions carefully for tool and chemical use. If you don't do this, you could cause unnecessary skin irritations, which are very painful. Following instructions for the use of harsh chemicals can keep you safe from serious injury.

Put together a calendar for planning your garden. Planting calenders help you know the right plants to plant each season. It can help you to be prepared ahead of time, and know what to buy, as well as when to buy it. You can make a planting calendar using a computer program, or with paper.

Water your garden carefully. To save time, use a soaker type hose so each plant doesn't need individual watering from the nozzle of a hose or a little watering can. Lower your water pressure on the soaker hose to avoid harming tender plants. Let your soaker hose run for a few hours while you do other things.

With these tips, you're better equipped to grow the most beautiful garden you can imagine. In learning how to create your dream garden, you'll also be growing as a person. That's because learning how to nurture your plants will not only help you reach the goal of having a great garden, but it will help you learn to nurture yourself.
