Who knew that the ordinary bingo game can become a parent (aunt in my case) little helper… I would like to share my fun experience with expanding knowledge through a bingo game. Before I start, I would like to tell you how it all began.
My husband and I live close to his parents; it is a half hour drive and we usually meet up every Saturday for lunch. Other than us, his two sisters come over. The younger is not married yet and the older is married + 2, Adam (6 years old) and Eli (9 months).
We love our lunches, talking about our selves, work, politics and life. During this time, Adam (as mentioned before is 6 year old) is having a hard time sitting quietly around the table for more then the time it takes to eat. Adam likes two things – 1) gifts (called a surprise in our house) 2) Playing. Every Saturday Adam has a big challenge trying to enthuse 7 stuffed adults to play ball with him.
This is where the bingo enters our story - I saw an ad advertising bingo card maker software named “The Bingo Maker". The Bingo Maker lets you create your custom bingo cards and print them at home. It looked nice and for the 29.95$ they are asking for it, I thought that I should give it a try. I made the first bingo cards with simple math problems, and got the whole family to take part of the game. Once Adam completes the math problems we will all play bingo with him. After he completes the math problems I call out the answers it is as a regular bingo game. Playing the bingo game, Adam had a great time and it wasn't just him we all enjoyed the game.
I made more bingo cards using questions about geography (states, countries) animals, vocabulary and all sort of mini trivia questions.
The Bingo Maker supports different bingo board sizes, 3x3, 5x5 and 7x7. I recommend the 3x3 size – the winner is the one who has “black out" game (the one that marked the whole card). This can be a great summer family activity that you can take with you anywhere you travel.
Last but not least I didn't forget a surprise for Adam, so don't forget the prizes as everyone appreciates the little prize at the end.
