Jewellery is something that the majority of people wear and give to others. It's also something that can be valuable or very inexpensive. Those who enjoy art and creation may really enjoy crafting their own jewellery. This can be done quite easily and only requires patience and time. Most craft stores and even the craft section of your local department store will have everything you need to get started in jewellery design.

Beads are incredibly fun and easy to work with. They come in so many sizes, shapes and colours. Select a sturdy string that is made for bead work before you get started. Measure it prior to beginning to ensure that it will be the appropriate size for what you are making. Beads can also be bought in letters or numbers so you can customize certain pieces using names or nicknames. Small beads can easily get lost though so take care to store them in a container they will be safe in.

Everyone loves a charm bracelet. Collecting various charms to hang from your bracelet is fun and gives you something to work toward. Create a themed bracelet such as bugs where each charm is a different bug. This can be done for any topic of your choosing. It makes a great gift idea for friends with certain interests. Charms can be bought at craft stores or ordered special online.

Making a beautiful pair of earrings isn't as difficult as it might sound. Start with empty fish hook earrings and an assortment of pieces that slip right on. You should be able to find these items along with the rest at your favourite craft store. Additional pieces can be purchased from a number of great craft sites online.

Small glass vials make fantastic necklaces. You can put all sorts of little trinkets inside them before sealing the top and hanging it on a strip of leather or a chain. Be creative and let your imagination guide you. Everything from charms to small pictures or trinkets can be secured in a vial to hang around the neck.

You might be surprised to discover the fantastic places that you can order a great supply of gems and stones from. Ordering authentic gems from places like China can save you exceptional amounts when it comes to the exchange rate. You can then use the gems to fit into rings, necklaces or whatever you wish.

If making jewellery is something that you are interested in, be sure to get a tool kit as well. A tool kit that's made for jewellery will come with things like wire clippers, pliers and earring backings. After creating your jewellery, share with friends or consider selling it online. Many people make decent money by selling their wares on eBay or through their own website. You might be surprised how quickly jewellery sales can take off.

Making jewellery allows you to create beautiful wares that can be worn over and over. Even if it's just for you, home made jewellery is a hobby that comes with its own reward.
