eCards for Father's Day

Visitors: 133

Father’s Day is right around the corner, which means it’s time to decipher whether your old man wants golf clubs, swim trunks or a subscription to Business Week. Maybe he wants something entirely different and changes his mind every time you buy him what he supposedly wanted. This is where Internet eCards can put an end to Dad’s age-old excuse, “It didn’t fit. ”

eCards are a great way to show you care while reducing the risk of a return on your hand-picked present. With so many varieties of cards and different holidays, it can be a challenge to find the perfect eCard.

Some find it hard to remember holidays like Father’s Day that don’t warrant a day off and just creep up on you. Believe it or not, Father’s Day has some pretty interesting origins.

How Father’s Day Came About:

  • Founded in Spokane, WA inspired by Mother’s Day.

  • A woman named Sonora Dodd in 1909 began the holiday as a way to honor her Civil War veteran father. Thank the ladies in your life for your holiday, guys!

  • The first Father’s Day was June 19, 1910.

  • President Lyndon B. Johnson announced Father’s Day to be celebrated on the third Sunday in June of 1966.

  • In 1972, President Nixon made this day an official holiday for dads.

    Fun Father’s Day Stats:

  • 102 million cards are expected to be given for Father’s Day.

  • 50% of all purchased cards are usually bought by the father’s son or daughter. This means that another half are bought by people who have special men in their lives, so don’t fret if you’re not a dad!

  • The 5th most popular day for buying a greeting card is yes, for Father’s Day!

Traditional cards you buy at the card store may be more down your alley, but a great alternative is online greeting cards. Not only can you personalize your eCards for a special man in your life, reports that one service, American Greetings, even lets users upload audio files or personally-written messages to play aloud as Dad opens his card. Don’t forget, Father’s Day is June 17 this year and dads aren’t the only ones who would appreciate an eCard!
