If you own a pool, you understand that it requires regular care and maintenance. Forget this fact for even one minute, and it could cost you money or even contribute to someone getting hurt. Pay attention to these four tips, and you can make sure your pool is safe for friends and family, and also avoid costly maintenance and repairs.

Provide Regular Maintenance: Always check your pool and equipment to make sure it is working properly, and provide regularly scheduled maintenance. Spotting a problem early on can save hundreds later down the road. In winter, store your equipment properly.

Disinfect regularly: Chlorine is the post popular disinfectant used in pools today. Make sure to use chlorine in the proper levels so that your water is safe and free from bacteria. Failing to heed this advice could lead to a bigger danger, and an expensive pool cleanup bill requiring all of the pool water to be drained and the sides of the pool power washed, and maybe even repainted.

Safety First: Make sure the pool deck is clear of clutter and other debris. Emphasis to children the fact they should not run or play around the pool, especially if the desk is wet. If you haven’t already, put up a fence around the pool to keep small children out, and make sure it is at least 5 feet high. Check drains and pumps for any dangerous recalls or necessary repairs. It may sound excessive, but a little prevention goes a long way.

Hire an Expert: Hiring a pool service that provides regular pool maintenance is the single best way to protect your pool from costly and unnecessary repairs, and make sure your water is safe. Ask the pool service if they spot other potential safety issues related to your pool. Outsourcing your pool to experts means they deal with all the chemicals, meaning you can avoid having to store them at your house, where animals and children can get into them. There are so many upsides!

Owning a pool requires careful care and attention. Checking the water and adding chemicals, cleaning the pool and dragging it, keeping the equipment running properly, the list goes on forever. For the easiest path, consider hiring a local pool company.
