Make a Modern Statement with Window Coverings

Visitors: 175

Using modern window treatments is not something you will regret doing in a few years. Modern window treatments are here to stay as a way to complement the contemporary décor themes that are extremely popular these days. By upgrading your window treatments to a more modern feel, you will have a style that will still be relevant years from now.

One of the strongest design statements you can make is to use wood window shades. There are many different kinds of wood that you can use for window shades, including bamboo, oak and cherry. Bamboo shades are the least expensive type of wood shades you can buy, but they still look very attractive in any room. Another type of wood shade that can be less expensive than real wood shades is referred to as woven wood shades. While these aren’t really wood, they have the look and feel of real wood and therefore, are as attractive as real wood.

Another kind of shade that you might consider for a modern theme is cellular shades. These have been in existence for many decades and are also known as honeycomb shades. The nice aspect of these shades is that they are extremely energy efficient. The air gets trapped in the honeycomb cells, which allows it to heat up or cool down to room temperature. This way, you don’t have to ask your air conditioner or heater to do the task instead. This will save you a lot of money on a monthly basis. You can customize cellular shades to meet your exact needs. For example, you can get top-down shades, bottom-up shades or continuous cord loop shades. Depending on what you are going to use your shades for, these options will come in handy.

If you are looking for one of the most popular types of blinds or shades, go with horizontal wood shades. You can get these with 2 1/2 –inch slats, which gives them a nice plantation shutter look to your room. The nice thing about wooden blinds is that you can paint them any color you wish to make sure they match your décor. This is not an option you will find with many of the other types of blinds and shades, since most of them cannot be painted.

For those of you who want a window treatment that looks more like traditional curtains, go with Roman shades, as they are the closest you can get to a curtain without actually being a curtain. In addition, Roman shades are far less expensive than traditional drapes and are easy to install as well.
