Contemporary Home and Wall Decor

Visitors: 490

Contemporary home decor is the top of the line when it comes to home decor styles to bring to play in your home. While most people have a general idea what contemporary decor is, many don't know how to use contemporary home and wall decor in their home.

First things first. You need to understand the philosophy behind the different options in modern and contemporary decor

One very popular type of modern decor is called minimalist decor. In this decorating style less is more. The idea is to keep furnishings and accents to a minimum. Generally, all the pieces in the room will have their space and function and nothing more is added. If you have ever seen pictures of modern homes where there is a small smattering of furniture in a large room and a lot of open space left, this is a great example of minimalism.

Explosions Of Color

If you really want to have a major impact in your modern and contemporary decor one way to do that is to have an explosion of color. If you have done any shopping for modern decor items you have no doubt seen a lot of white, black and chrome pieces as well as some that are in bright and vibrant colors. The way you use these brighter pieces is as an accent in a room that is more traditionally dressed. This means if you have a room that is painted white, with black furniture, you would choose one area of the room to add an explosion of color. This could be a bright accent table or chair on one side of the room that gives the entire space a splash color and brings it to life.

One Focus

How many times have you looked in a modern or contemporary home and noticed that it looks a lot like an art gallery? Why not use this effect to it's full potential. If you are creating a contemporary living room, why not use this space as your own personal gallery to show off a special sculpture or piece of wall art. You can use lighting to visually point everyone's eyes towards the piece as soon as they enter the room. You can even arrange the furniture in the room so guests can take a seat and contemplate the beauty in front of them.

Another way to have the One Focus effect is to create the effect through one special piece of furniture. Remember all those bright and unique artistic pieces of furniture you have seen while shopping for modern decor? Why not use one of those pieces as the centerpiece for your living space? This eye-catching furniture piece will be the one that all your guests ask about.

So there you have it.

As you begin your endeavor to create a modern and contemporary home, there are a number of directions you can choose. From minimalism to splashes of color or focusing on one piece in the room you can create a completely modern home with each room having a different look than the last.
