Country Decorating Ideas - Country Decorating on a Budget

Is your decorating budget smaller than you would like? If so, here are several country decorating ideas that won’t “break the bank” but will still make your rooms attractive and inviting.

Start with a common color such as wall color or a recurring accent color. This helps to draw together otherwise dissimilar pieces and emphasizes their varied contours and textures.

Use texture freely to add interest and depth to a room. Accents such as rustic baskets, vintage fabrics, and distressed finishes are examples of how texture adds character to country home decorating.

Flowers and garden produce add a touch of nature to the indoors as table centerpieces which draw attention to the changing seasons. Collect them from your yard or visit a farmer’s market for fresh and unique, natural country home decor.

A wonderful country decorating idea is to use a watering can indoors. They can be “dressed up” by displaying flowers or used in a practical way on a work bench to hold paintbrushes. Well-weathered watering cans also work well as stand-alone folk art.

Painted benches are the essence of rural America and are as practical as they are stylish. Once used for tasks such as a place for canning jars to cool, benches are now used as coffee tables, as additional seating in any room of the house, and in the outdoors for displaying or potting plants.

Turn a flour sack into a country home decor pillowcase. What a great way to add character to a bed or sofa.

Blue denim is an American classic that improves with age. Because of its rugged, at ease appearance and availability, it is an economical, practical addition to any country home décor. A popular use for worn-out jeans is one-of-a kind quilts—a nice touch to any bedroom or living room.

As you can see, by using your creativity and imagination tasteful country home decorating is possible on a limited budget.
