Manufactured Homes Offer Big Floor Plans and Luxury Options At Affordable Prices

Readers of my blog could be forgiven for being shocked when earlier this year, I started pointing out manufactured homes for sale in the LA area. After all, I’ve built my reputation based on featuring luxury homes. It turns out that many of us actually can’t afford those premium houses - the past year with its surge of foreclosures has proven that point. Yet we still want space, modern floor plans and high-end features, so how do you solve this disconnect? A reader pointed me in the right direction when she forwarded an article that showcased celebrities like Pam Anderson who had recently bought manufactured homes.

I’m not exactly paparazzi material, but when I heard this tidbit, I thought it warranted further investigation. I left Ms. Anderson alone, but I did take a drive out to Factory Expo Home Center (factoryexpohomes.com) where I had a tour of the production facility followed by several hours walking through the model village. They had examples of the finest new manufactured homes for sale available for inspection.

I came away impressed, as those of you who follow my posts are quite aware. When I wrote that the master bath suite of a home I toured included a double vanity, electric fireplace, massive soaker tub (with oversized glass-surround ceramic tiled shower complete with rainforest-style shower head), plantation style shutters and a wall-mounted LCD TV, I don’t think any of you expected me to mention that this spa retreat was being offered in manufactured homes. And when I said that new manufactured homes for sale offered 4 bedroom floor plans and construction standards that match those of the traditional construction industry, I received quite a few disbelieving comments. But it’s true, and the best part is you get all of this at a cost that’s significantly lower than houses built onsite.

Are manufactured homes the right choice for you? In most cases, I would say the answer is easily ‘yes. ’ Maybe twenty or thirty years ago I wouldn’t have, but given the current real estate situation and high standards employed by the mobile home industry, I think new manufactured homes for sale represent a real opportunity for Americans to buy a quality built, luxury home at an affordable price. Why downsize or reduce your expectations when you can have what you want and simply reduce the size of your mortgage instead?

Large floor plans and quality construction are just part of the reason for surging interest in the sector. With luxury features like master bathroom dream suites and Euro-style gourmet kitchens, new manufactured homes for sale represent the opportunity to buy a high-end home without paying the price of a McMansion.
