Heaters are indispensable for warming the people in the area. It would be very uncomfortable indeed to be in the cold, be it indoors or outdoors. In fact, young children may be susceptible to colds due to the chilly air. Colds even if not serious, are a nuisance, and can in fact interrupt one's daily activities. Fortunately, this does not have to be the case. With the variety of heaters available in the market, there is no reason why one cannot find a heater that is suitable.

Before you get electric patio heaters, you will want to know the advantages. You would like to know that these heaters actually make it more convenient and safer for your family too.

These electric heaters are environmentally friendly as electricity does not give out gas. This is obvious, as they do not give out flames. If you are very concerned about the environment, then this is the heater you want.

The fact that these heaters produce no flames really give you more than one advantage. Well, these are safer kind of heaters to use, aren't they? You can leave them unattended. That is one less worry for you.

The safest way to use any electrical appliances is to constantly refer to the manual whenever you are not sure of using it. The dangers of using electrical items such as electric heaters are many. Never on any condition, operate them incorrectly. The electric heaters should come with their own safety features like shut offs and thermostats. These features should be able to stop or control the heater whenever something unexpected happens.

The best thing about electric heaters is that they simply use electricity. No more hassle with refueling and you not only save money, but also your time.

The heater will need a certain amount of clearance and mounting space. This is crucial. Apart form that, you should also know the length of area and height of mounting before installing a patio heater.

You will need a higher wattage for a higher mounting area. This is because it will provide you with enough heat. If your ceiling is not higher than 15 ft, you can install a ceiling mounted electric heater. For an area with 10 x 7 ft wall, you must have two 1, 500W heaters installed. This will provide you with enough heat. Higher wattage is needed for higher mounting area.

You will find out how much clearance you need via the specifications on the electric patio heaters. They may read as 15" from sides, 6" from rear and 6" from ceiling. Regardless, you may be sure that electric patio heaters take up less clearance than gas heaters.

To know how much of the area you need to heat up, calculate the dimension of the area. This should be the length x width.

You can find different types of electric heaters to suit your needs. They may be portable that you can place them where ever you need to. Alternatively, they can be mounted on walls and ceilings. There are also strip heaters which come in a variety of lengths. They fall in the range of 1,500 to 4,000W.

Heaters are classified according to where they are used. They are also meant to compliment the heating system that is already installed. For garages and workshops, the heaters are usually mounted on the walls or ceilings. They will be more efficient here as these places are not like homes. Baseboards are usually for bedrooms and halls. Electrical resistance works here as the cooler air is constantly pulled to the bottom. Infrared heaters on the other hand works for both homes and offices.

When buying electrical heaters, it is best that you do not compromise on quality for the sake of low pricing. These may not be certified or tested for quality, leading to potential fire hazards.
