Spray Foam Insulation For Energy Efficiency

Visitors: 183

Spray foam is an energy efficient, earth-friendly, and smart way to insulate your home or office. It has numerous benefits that include increasing your building's value and cutting down on various maintenance costs throughout the years. If you care about the environment and are building a new home, vamping up an old one, or are just tired of sky-high energy bills, spray foam insulation is the right solution to your problems.

If you're familiar at all with insulation, you're probably aware that most building and homes are outfitted with fiberglass. Fiberglass comes in large sheets that are placed between your walls in order to keep your home warmer and safer from outside elements.

The reality is that not only is fiberglass inefficient and wasteful, but it's bad for your health. A sheet of fiberglass is comprised of tiny pink barbed hooks. These particles easily break loose, the sheets fall down or become torn, and the little hooks float into the air.

They can unwittingly be inhaled, causing lesions on the inside of the mouth and throat, which can lead to more serious health problems. Touching fiberglass with bare hands also causes a burning, rash sensation. On top of that, fiberglass needs to be replaced often.

Spray foam insulation is made of safe, green materials that won't break off or harm you and your family. It is durable, lasting the lifetime of your home. It is made up of either polyurethane or isocyanurate that is sprayed onto a surface as a liquid. The polymer will foam up once it makes contact with a surface, expanding to fit into every crack and corner.

Because it creates such a thick, impenetrable barrier, it protects your home or building from outside elements better than fiberglass can. It also is much better at keeping heat in, cutting down your energy bills.

Spray foam insulation is also a very versatile substance. It can be sprayed along borders, into corners, and even on ceilings and floors, making sure that every part of your home is well-insulated. No additional caulk or other environmentally unfriendly sealants will be needed. You'll save time, energy, and money.

Beyond just keeping your house more energy efficient, spray foam insulation comes with the added bonus of cutting down on your regular maintenance costs. It prevents insects and other pests from burrowing into your home, cutting out exterminator fees.

It also keeps out moisture, which means no harmful mold has the chance to destroy your home. If noisy neighbors are your problem, the thick cushion that spray foam creates works as a sound barrier, making your home warm and quiet.

Don't be put off by the more expensive cost of spray foam compared to fiberglass insulation. The initial cost is expensive because, due to its nature, it is best applied by professionals; however, it will not have to be replaced, and it will pay for itself in just a few years.

It will also increase the value of your home, and save you valuable time if you're building a new one. It's so durable that it won't break, disintegrate, or expand and damage your property. Once it's installed, you'll never have to worry about it again.

With increasing gas prices, the need for more energy efficient materials is on the rise. Spray fiber and spray foam insulation , as well as non-fiberglass batts, are greener alternatives for your homes. Visit for details.
