Everyday the global demands for energy are increasing. This increased demand leads to increased energy prices. Energy prices will continue to sky rocket in the near future. So what can you do about your rising energy bill? Build a homemade wind turbine and save hundreds every month. You'll have a fun little weekend project that you'll be proud of.
How Wind Turbines Work
Wind is the power source for wind turbines. Wind is created here on earth by the unequal heating of the earths surface due to the constant rotation. The blades on a wind turbine can catch the kinetic energy of the wind to turn the propellers. These propellers then turn a shaft inside a generator that creates an electrical current. The electrical current is transfered to an electrical control system which sends the power to the battery supply pack. Then an inverter sends the energy to your houses electrical control system to be used as needed. Unused energy can actually be sold back to the energy company. Imagine them sending you money for a change.
You'll need a bunch of parts for your wind turbine. A generator, tower, turbine, rotating mount, batteries, and an inverter will be needed. I highly recommend getting a detailed wind turbine manual to streamline the whole process. A detailed manual will illustrate the entire process step-by-step and give you a complete parts list and where to get them. I have seen wind projects go upside down because they used a poor generator or poor electrical control system. Building a wind generator does not have to be difficult.
As fuel demands continue to rise around the world you'll be saving hundreds of dollars every month by building your own wind turbine. Imagine what you could do with that extra money? Wind energy is the wave of the future so be the first in your neighborhood to have one.
