Imagine getting your energy bill and for once it went down. However, not only did it go down but it went down 70%! Imagine all that extra money you could use on what you wanted instead of paying it to the electric company. What if you could help save the environment and lessen the global demand for foreign fuel? Sound like a fairy tale? Think again! Building your own wind turbine will enable all of these wonderful things to happen and it will be at a fraction of the price of a manufactured one.
How Wind Turbines Work
Wind turbines work by using the Earth's moving air masses (wind) which hold kinetic energy which can be used to spin propellers to turn a shaft on generator. This will generate an electrical charge which can be stored in a battery pack and then freely used by the homes appliances.
Wind turbines work best in environments with 8 mile an hour winds. I recommend mixing solar energy with wind turbines if your area has anything less. To have the turbine at its peak effectiveness you'll need to raise it high up on a tower. At higher elevations wind has less resistance from objects on the ground such as trees or houses and travels much faster.
Build Wind Turbine Plans
In order to build an effective wind turbine you'll need to get a good manual. It's much easier and much less of a pain to try and figure out the different combination of parts then to just follow a step-by-step guided manual. A good manual will list the exact parts you need and where to get them.
This makes for a great weekend project and you'll greatly appreciate the effort you put into making this when your electric bill finally comes and is greatly reduced.
