A Domestic Water Filtration System Guide

Visitors: 300

You have more need for a domestic water filtration system now than probably ever before. The number of toxins that are found in our water has increased dramatically over the past one hundred years. Unfortunately, the water filtration systems most municipalities use are old and some are even obsolete.

The quality of our drinking water is becoming a real health issue.

We live in a world that depends on over 80,000 new, synthetic chemicals. Of course, these chemicals have made our lives much better, but a shocking number of them are carcinogenic, and they end up in our water supply!

The Environmental Work Group did a study of 29 U. S. cities. They found that all of the cities’ water had traces of at least one pesticide. Many had three or more!

You can also find prescription drugs in your water! A number of researchers think that the rise in drug-resistant bacteria might be partially caused by the fact that we ingest antibiotics through our drinking water.

We have the assumption that our drinking water is safe. And it is, compared with drinking untreated water. We no longer have outbreaks of diseases like cholera and tetanus, for instance. We are, however, paying a heavy price for our “unpolluted" water system.

Virtually every water treatment plant puts a certain amount of chlorine in the water so that it does not become recontaminated on the way to your tap. (Sometimes transit time is a few weeks in larger systems!)

That's good, but the problem with chlorine is it sometimes reacts with organic matter in the water to form carcinogenic compounds.

That's after the water treatment facility-one the way to your tap!

Obviously, it's important for you to be educated about this important health issue! Let's start by understanding more about how water is filtered.

Municipalities use a number of types of filters in their water filtration system. Among them are physical barriers, chemicals, and biological processes. As far as a domestic water filtration system, you can find the use of granular activated carbon, metallic alloy filters, microporous ceramic filters, carbon block resin, and ultra-filtration membranes.

Domestic systems are either whole house, installed at the tap, or portable. Portable filters use either fine meshes or ceramic filters. Both have to be cleaned and replaced. A better domestic water filtration system will usually use a combination of these technologies.

Unfortunately, we can no longer remain ignorant about the quality of the water we drink.

(You might think bottled water is the answer, but the real truth is bottled water is just as contaminated as tap water-if not more so. )

The bottom line is you need a home water filtration system!

Your next step needs to be to find an informative website where you can learn more, and then decide on which make of filter is best for you and your family.
