Who Makes the Best Prospect

We know that you have to have skills when it comes to having success in your network marketing business. Prospecting is what keeps a home based business growing. But what makes a prospect a good prospect? It's important to identify who your target market is so that you won't waste any of your time trying to sell your product or service to someone that has no desire to purchase what you have.

In order to identify who your target market is you should be looking for 2 key things to determine if they would be a good prospect for what you have:

1. The prospect has a want or a need for what you have - The best type of prospect that you could ever have is a prospect that has a need for something else. For example, if you are in a MLM and you are marketing a skincare product, you want to be talking to people who are already looking for the type of skincare solution that your product provides. If you only talk to those that are looking for the benefits of your MLM product, you won't have to do any convincing. That's right; you won't have to convince anyone that they need what you have. I don't have to tell you how much easier it is to show someone, that already is looking for a solution to a problem, how your product can help them.

2. The prospect has to want a solution - Have you heard the story of the guy who was drowning and a boat comes along and offers him a life vest and the guy won't take the life vest because it's the wrong color. We all know people who, for whatever reason, seem to be unable to see the answer even when it's right there in front of them. Well, if your prospect has given up all hope of fixing their problem, then there is nothing you can do for them.

Let's go back to the skincare product. I ask my prospect “if I could show you a way where you could get rid of all those wrinkles leaving you with smooth younger looking skin, would you like to know how you could do that?" and they answer “no, I'm happy with the way I look, my grandkids don't mind the wrinkles", then I'm moving on. I'm not going to try and twist their arm to convince them that my skincare product could potentially make them look 10 years younger. If they're happy where they are at, I let them be. And the best part is that I found out if I'm talking to the right or the wrong person within a few seconds.

So. . . if a prospect has a want or a need, and a prospect wants a solution, then I simply show them how to get that done. I know that there are plenty of opinions out there on growing a home based business, but personally, I enjoy helping people to solve their problems much more than I enjoy convincing someone that they need what I have.

If you have a network marketing business, then go find some people to help! The greatest asset a business can ever posses is a known list of satisfied customers. If your product has benefits, then go find the folks that are in need of those benefits, and help them out! By helping your prospect you not only create loyal customers you also make the world a better place.
